St Mary Major, Ilchester is the last of 7 churches which once graced the old Roman town of 'Lendinae'
St Peter's Podimore is a 'gem' of a village church. (picture shows the tower after recent restoration works)
St Mary Limington is full of history. It is believed to be Thomas Wolsey's first parish church
St Bartholomew Yeovilton is no longer a parish church today instead it honours the men and women of the 'Fleet Air Arm'.
Ilchester District Churches - St Mary Major, St Peter's and St Mary's - form the benefice of Ilchester with Northover,
Limington and Yeovilton with Podimore in the Church of England Diocese of Bath and Wells. Each church is distinct in its own right and very representative of its village community.

Work begins in April to repair the historic chapel at St Mary Limington.
Built in 1324 the chapel hold carved figues of Sir Richard Gyverney and his family, internationally important examples of English funeral carving of the period.
Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of St Mary's and the Heritage Lottery Fund the forever leaking roof of the chapel is to be restored protecting all the contents of the chapel.
